Almost all travelers need a visa to enter Sri Lanka, except nationals of a few visa-exempt countries (like the Maldives, Seychelles, and Singapore). Most visitors can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online.
🌐 How to Apply for a Tourist Visa (ETA)
- Go to the Official ETA Website
Visit: www.eta.gov.lk - Choose Your Visa Type
- Tourist ETA (30 days, double entry)
- Business or Transit ETA (if applicable)
- Fill in Your Details
Enter your passport, travel dates, and personal information. - Pay the Fee
- Most nationalities: approx. $50 USD
- SAARC countries (e.g., India, Pakistan): $20 USD
- Children under 12: Free
- Get ETA Approval by Email
You’ll receive an email approval within 24–48 hours. Print or save a digital copy for your travel.
🧾 Visa on Arrival?
Although available, visa-on-arrival is not recommended, as lines can be long and approvals may be delayed.
