Planning a trip to Sri Lanka? Here’s everything you need to know about getting your visa fast and hassle-free!

🛂 Who Needs a Visa?

Almost all travelers need a visa to enter Sri Lanka, except nationals of a few visa-exempt countries (like the Maldives, Seychelles, and Singapore). Most visitors can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online.

🌐 How to Apply for a Tourist Visa (ETA)

  1. Go to the Official ETA Website
    Visit: www.eta.gov.lk
  2. Choose Your Visa Type
    • Tourist ETA (30 days, double entry)
    • Business or Transit ETA (if applicable)
  3. Fill in Your Details
Enter your passport, travel dates, and personal information.
  4. Pay the Fee
    • Most nationalities: approx. $50 USD
    • SAARC countries (e.g., India, Pakistan): $20 USD
    • Children under 12: Free
  5. Get ETA Approval by Email
You’ll receive an email approval within 24–48 hours. Print or save a digital copy for your travel.

🧾 Visa on Arrival?

Although available, visa-on-arrival is not recommended, as lines can be long and approvals may be delayed.
